Maintain a Good Watering Schedule

• The best way to get pothos to trail faster is to maintain a good watering schedule for your plant. Bad watering techniques will halt the plant’s growth.
• If the plant remains unwatered for long, then it needs more moisture to grow, lack of moisture will keep the leaves dull.
• On the other hand, if you are overwatering the plant, it means you are killing the plant as it is becoming root rot.
• In both situations, the plant will not be able to trail. so it is important to maintain a good watering schedule. 
• The ideal thing to do is to water the pothos when the soil becomes dry. 
• Water the plant more during summer. Whereas do not water the plant more often in the winter. 

Use the Right Growth Medium 

• Are you using the right growing medium for the pothos? If yes, then your pothos should trail.
• The ideal pH level for the potos is 6.0 to 6.8 which is slightly neutral. Pothos likes to grow in well-drained soil.
• Add some amendments which will help in keeping the soil healthy. Keep the soil well drained but not in excess. 
• Perlite also works best for the container pothos. It will help in enhancing the aeration of the soil. 
• The ideal pH of perlite lies between 7.0 to 7.5. Also, you can use vermiculite in small amounts whose pH is just like perlite, i.e.; 7.0 to 7.5.

• Pruning is always done to maintain a healthy shape and size in the plant. The plant’s growth becomes faster after the pruning. 
• If the pothos is bigger, then there will be more offshoots in the plant. Pruning is required by this plant to make the future growth of the plant. 
• Look for the pothos leaf node first which is swollen on the stem. Make use of shape and sterilize pruning shears for doing so. 
• Pinch off the extra from the plant to avoid a messy look in the plant. 
• Remove all the dead and decayed leaves and stems from the plant to encourage new growth in the plant.

It depends on the variety of pothos you are growing in your home garden. somewhere varieties will begin to trail after 2 to 3 months of supporting them.

This plant is considered a legend at the trail, so it will not take much time to trail. If the plant is healthy and you are caring for it properly, then it will trail sooner and show you the best results. 

When the plant is in its active season, then its growth rate is about 6 to 12 inches in a month but the plant will not grow at this place during winter months because the plant is in its dormant period at that time. After providing proper care to the plant for about 6 to 7 months, you can expect the plant to grow about 16 inches long. 

It shows that it will trail over a shelf or any other support. After it ends trailing, it will be growing 3 to 10 feet long which depends on the size and the condition of the plant that you began with. This is how the pothos are the easiest plant to trail indoors
