  • You have to take the uprooted bulb back and then you have to cover it with some dirt. 
  • Keep in mind not to trim the greens fully, as these leaves are the food sources for growing onions so you have to leave about 2 inches from the top.

  • Also, you have to trim back the onion for about 3 inches so that it encourages new growth in the plant.

  • Another growing tip you have to follow is that you have to trim off the seedling leaf. 
  • It will happen after the process of transplanting, so you have to trim back it to about 12 cm tall.

  • So whenever there is it outside, then you have to keep the onions outside so that there is a good amount of maximum sunlight.
  • Make sure you are not exposing your plant to cold drafts or wind as it causes damage to the plant, so you can make use of a plastic cover tunnel to protect the plant. 

Provide bottom heat

  • As you knwo onions will grow best in the heat. So, you have to provide them with a temperature range of 68-77°F (20-25°C) that will keep the plant receiving heat. 
  • you can place the onions at the top of the refrigerator as it will help the plant to receive a warm place so that the process of germination takes place. 

Make use of fresh seed starting mix

  • As you know, you can store the seeds of onion to grow them next year, but you have to keep in mind to use fresh potting mix.
  • Germination takes place at its best when you use fresh seeds.

  • If you do not use fresh potting mix, then the plant will be prone to diseases.
