Crabgrass will grow in harsh climatic conditions, this grass will spread more in the area even when others will face issues. It requires light to grow well.

As the crabgrass will not be able to grow in the dense gardens, seed the whole area in the fall season with the dense turfgrass. 

Do not trim off the lawn as it will invite the crabgrass. Trim off the lawn in its actively growing season only.
